Inquiry as Being Human

“I define an act of inquiry as a language act in which one attempt to elicit another’s help in going beyond his or her own present understanding. My interest is in how children develop and use the language of inquiry in their learning lives.”

“I believe that inquiry is universal, a part of what it is to be human.”

“I take very seriously the suggestion that curiosity is innate, and the the child is, from birth, oriented toward trying to understand his or her world with the help of others.”

Means of storytelling, narrative, and meaning making allowing for the forging of connections with others.
